For many years prior to 1960, SRF devotees and friends had gathered together for group meditation and fellowship. Over time, as the attendance grew, the group received the status of Meditation Group. Around July 1964 the Toronto Centre received its designation as a Meditation Centre.
In 2016 the Toronto Centre incorporated and obtained charitable status. This allows us to provide tax receipts for donations. For this purpose we registered a unique business name and chose to use “Toronto Yogoda Meditation Centre”. The business name is only used when legally required such as on cheques deposited with the bank.
With the current lessening of Covid restrictions regarding group gatherings, the Toronto Centre has established a one-year lease agreement with Kimbourne Park United Church – located at 200 Wolverleigh Blvd. — in the Coxwell / Danforth area – with Services to be held on Sundays from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, beginning Sunday, April 10th.
We yet carry our plan to rent or purchase a more permanent physical meeting place where we can again come together for group services and events. Our Building Fund is ongoing in actively receiving pledges and
